 Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help me find the missing driver for me printer Toshiba Digital e-STUDIO160 Copier

I bought new pcs with windows 8 and now I didnt find the drivers from the installer downloads page don t seem for this operative system.

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks in advance,

I was really glad when I found this.  I too had the same problem with ecoUtility crashing when called and no screen brightness adjustments.  And this happened after installing Logmein with the mirror drivers.  I uninstalled the mirror drivers from the device manager, told LMI not to use it anymore and rebooted.  Went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled eU, too.

Unfortunately, this fix has not worked for me.  eU still crashes.  I can t uninstall LMI at this time as I m actually remoting from work now to try and fix this problem.  I m running Vista x86 on a Satellite L505.

When I get home, I will try uninstalling LMI completely and trying again.  Until then, any other ideas.

UPDATE: I removed the generic monitor and then rescanned.  Found the monitor though not the exact same.  The last one said MDSN or something like that.  Anyway, eU works now and my screen will change brightness but not through the Fn keys.  Fn brightness controls are still no-go.

UPDATE: Ok, well, I didn t do anything but I do have brightness control back via the Fn key.  Thanks anyways.

Updated my computer from XP to Windowss 7 and now it says I need mass storage controller driver update.  I used the Toshibas software installer but it did not fix this problem.  How can I update this driver.

I have a toshiba satellite E45T-a4100, but my bluetooth doesn t work

Solved.

Go to Solution.

And by freezing I mean it freezes for 1-10 seconds and then works normally again. When I m online it takes a lot of time to load pages, but once the browser does it, it s like super fast, all tabs open immediately. Also, when I open film, it s rather irritating because it just stops, and i have to wait for it to play back.

Now, when it comes to technical stuff, I will tell you what I know:

-I bought it almost one year ago

-Windows 8 Pro, 64-bit, 8GB RAM

-I regularly update it

-I checked for viruses and malware, I did have some, but nothing disturbing, I got rid of it

-When it comes to memory, I m currently working with 47.1 GB 243GB on C, and 33.5 GB 352GB on D

So, what am I to do.

I hope I explained it well.

Regards, Ana

Note, this is a bit long, read it all, please.  You may decide to not go on with a downgrade.

I did manage to accomplish what I wanted, in spite of warnings against doing so. Specifically, for my computer, Toshiba does not supply any optimized drivers for Windows 7, meaning having to use generic drivers which may not work as well as they could.

There were two major issues:

1.  The Toshiba Satellite uses the UEFI firmware and Windows 8.1 required the secure boot setting to be ON.  Turning it OFF left the system unbootable from the hard disk, but CD bootable disks would now run.

2.  Windows 8.1 uses GPT partitioning, which Windows 7 recognizes but can t install on.  Since I had a full recovery disk and full system backup, I went ahead and deleted Windows 8.1 and all GPT partitions, which allowed installing Windows 7.  Fortunately, though many things did not work at all, several did, though not well, in particular graphics low resolution and usb probably v2 only.

There are a number of steps I did to get things working better:

1.  Determine the manufacturer of as many peripherals as you can.  You may be able to get some of this from Windows itself, but I used a Linux live CD called Knoppix to get the hardware details.

2.  The most important driver to find is the one for the wired ethernet.  You ll obviously need a second computer to do this part.  Find and download the driver to a usb stick, transfer to your laptop and install it.  With networking, you can now connect to the internet and download directly to the laptop.  You should first run Windows Update, as many times as needed, until Windows is as up to date as possible.

3.  While searching for additional information on Toshiba s site, I came across a recommendation to use  software called Driver Detective.   I assumed at the time if Toshiba was endorsing it, it would be OK, but since then I ve found a lot of people have had major problems with the software, and issues with the company.  So your milage will vary.  Be careful.

My experience with the software was good.  It found all drivers that needed updating and did the download and install just fine.  One download had to be repeated when the install failed, and you can only do one at a time, answering questions repeatedly for each.

My issues were with the company and their business practices.  For example, I started to install, but then decided to abort the install pending further research, but every NO was ignored and it began to install anyway.  I had to start Task Manager and kill the install from there.

After a bit of discussion, I decided to go ahead with the install, and ran a scan.  When I tried to do a download for a driver, this nominally free software said I d need to purchase a license and subscription to actually get any drivers.  A web page was displayed saying I should contact the company for an activation key.  When I got to the company web page, the story changed, saying a technician would connect to my system and would install the key and run a scan and install other software.  NO WAY, I say.

So I left the machine running while I took care of some other business, and when I came back, found it had rebooted, I presume due to a Microsoft update, though not sure.  Regardless, it also appeared to somehow activate Driver Detective, so it may have been something done by the company.

So, if you do call their support, insist on them giving you the key over the phone and input it yourself.  Or try rebooting and see what happens.

In any case, everything seems to be up to date and the system is running nicely.

Good luck.

Suddenly I am having problems connecting to my printer over the network.  When I go to devices and printers I notice there is an alert indicating my laptop needs troubleshooting.  I go through the process and the result I get is Unknown device does not have a driver and the problem was not fixed.  I don t know what driver is missing.  Thanks.

You re pretty much on your own, Shannon.

Essentially everything needs to be installed for things to work right. This is not a job for a newbie, because you need to use judgement.

When there is more than one driver or utility, install the latest. If there is no such device nVidia display, don t install it. Sometimes you need to look in Device Manager devmgmt.msc to see which brand you have WiFi is Atheros, Intel, Realtek..

I would install all of the Intel stuff chipset, display, RST, management engine prior to any other driver. Install the TVAP before other Toshiba utilities.

It s a big job with lots of room for errors. That s why I recommend the recovery media.

I don t want to partition it to use the factory restore function.

You can remove the recovery partition and extend the C drive to add that space.
